Explore

When you visit Wolfe’s Neck, you’ll experience an array of ecosystems: farmland and pastures, marsh, woods, and coast. Take time to explore the open space and enjoy the preserved landscape.

Hiking Trails

Explore the forests at Wolfe’s Neck with a hike on our trails!

Wolfe’s Neck Center has more than three miles of hiking trails that are open to the public year-round. Our trails are a great place to walk or run in the summer, and hike, ski or snowshoe in the winter. In addition, our landscape has a unique combination of forest and estuarine habitats that make it a great birding destination.

Barns and Pastures

Visitors are welcome to wander through our organic dairy barn and livestock education barn to see farming in action!

Our Wishcamper Livestock Education Barn is home to sheep, goats, chickens, and calves during the colder months, with the animals spending most of their time on pasture during in the summer. Both our barns are free and open to the public year-round from dawn to dusk. Click here to view a campus map.

Education Gardens

Wolfe’s Neck Center maintains an Education Garden near the Little River Farmhouse. The majority of our gardens are cared for and tended by our wonderful volunteers and Fruit and Vegetable apprentices. Adults can learn about our gardens through our instructional signs, while children can explore with their senses, sniffing sweet smells and counting the colors.

You can find the Education Garden next to the Little River Farmhouse at 184 Burnett Rd, Freeport.
