Community Supported Agriculture
CSAs have become a popular way for farms to market their wares directly to local customers. Typically, members buy a “share” of the farm’s production for a season. Shareholders receive a portion of the harvest as the season progresses. It can be a great way to connect with and support local farms and farmers! Our vegetable CSA is another opportunity to connect with Wolfe’s Neck Farm, our Teen Ag Program, and our livestock, gardens, campground, and Casco Bay.
Your Teen Ag CSA share at Wolfe’s Neck Farm
This year’s share includes 18 weeks of freshly harvested vegetables grown by our Teen Ag program. Each week will bring a little something new and reflect the changes in the field and weather. Beginning on June 22nd, you’ll enjoy cold hardy crops like peas, kale, beets, and spinach. Goodies like summer squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, and our soon-to-be famous “Wolfe It Down” salad mix will abound as the season progresses. The autumnal harvest will include winter squash, potatoes, onions, and more kale, and will conclude on October 19th. When you come to pick up your share, Wolfe’s Neck Farm meat and eggs will also be available in our farm stand.
We are now MOFGA-certified organic! Vegetables are grown in our fields with non-GMO and organic seeds, cultivated using sustainable practices and without any chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides.
In addition to enjoying a weekly bounty of fresh vegetables, our CSA members support our Teen Ag program. Teen Ag is a sustainable agriculture immersion program that cultivates all of Wolfe’s Neck Farm’s vegetables and fruit, manages our farm stand, and contributes thousands of pounds of produce to area food pantries each year. Thank you for supporting our efforts to cultivate sustainable growers, conscientious eaters, innovative social entrepreneurs, and engaged community members.
SNAP CSA Shares
We also offer CSA shares for SNAP recipients. These shares are available at a 50% reduced rate and can be paid in full prior to the CSA season or at each weekly pick-up. Click here to learn more and sign-up!
